HANOVER, N.H. – The 2014 season got off to a near-perfect start Saturday morning at the Hanover Country Club for the Dartmouth women's cross country team. The Big Green dominated the annual Dartmouth Invitational, placing first with 16 points as nine of the first 10 finishers wore the home colors.
Leading the way was junior Dana Giordano, who paced the field of 78 from start to finish, crossing the line of the 6K course in 21:14.5.
Senior Sarah Delozier (2nd, 21:18.7) and freshman Ellie Gonzalez (3rd, 21:34.6) followed soon thereafter as did junior Reid Watson (4th, 21:43.0).
Brown's Natalie Schudrowitz claimed fifth and was the lone harrier in the top-10 not wearing a Dartmouth uniform on this day.
After Schudrowitz's finish broke up the Big Green's bid at the perfect 15-point mark, freshman Leigh Moffett (6th, 21:53.4), sophomore Helen Schlauchtenhaufen (7th, 21:58.9), seniors Alison Lanois (8th, 22:05.8) and Meggie Donovan (9th, 22:07.3) and junior Sarah Bennett (10th, 22:07.9) closed out a dominating stretch of Dartmouth runners.
Brown managed a second-place team showing with 51 points, while Keene State (94), Middlebury (124) and UMass Lowell (130) rounded out the field.
The win was the first for the Big Green at their home meet since 2011, when they also posted 16 points in victory.
