HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth men's hockey head coach Bob Gaudet '81 announced Thursday afternoon that senior Geoff Ferguson will serve as an alternate captain for the 2015-16 season.
Ferguson —a native of Kanata, Ontario — is a veteran of 93 career games on the eve of his final season in Hanover.
An imposing 6-foot-2, 215-pound defenseman, Ferguson has been a staple on the Big Green's blueline since arriving at Dartmouth in 2012. Last season, Ferguson was second on the team in blocked shots with 45, while he led all of ECAC Hockey in blocks as a sophomore in 2013-14.
Ferguson joins fellow senior Brad Schierhorn as the two members of the team to wear a letter on their chest this season as the latter was named the team captain last spring.
Ferguson and the rest of the Big Green get the regular season underway this weekend with a home-and-home series against Harvard. The two Ivy foes begin the year with a 7:30 p.m. Saturday night game at Thompson Arena, before a Sunday night game in Cambridge at 7 p.m.
