BRONX, N.Y. – Dartmouth senior Dana Giordano claimed second Friday afternoon at the 2015 Ivy League Women's Heptagonal Cross Country Championship at Van Cortlandt Park.
Giordano finished as the meet runner-up for the second year in a row and earned another All-Ivy First Team recognition with a 20:55.4 on the 6K course.
However, the New Jersey native's strong showing was not enough for the Big Green to earn their third Ivy title in as many seasons as they finished eighth with 151 points. Princeton won the team title for the first time since 2010 as the Tigers scored 60 points, led by individual champion Elizabeth Bird (20:47.4).
Yale (83), Columbia (94), Brown (109), Penn (114), Cornell (114) and Harvard (134) rounded out the scoring on Friday afternoon.
Junior Helen Schlachtenhaufen (22:02.3) and senior Reid Watson (22:14.7) were the next two Dartmouth harriers to finish, crossing in 21st and 31st, respectively.
Capping the scoring for the Green were senior Elizabeth Markowitz (22:39.6) and sophomore Bridget O'Neill (22:41.6) in the 48th and 49th positions.
Senior Sarah Bennett was 54th overall in 22:45.4, while freshman Olivia Lantz ran a 22:50.6 to claim 59th in her first career Ivy League Heps.
