Day Three

10/6/2015 12:10:00 PM | Men's Tennis
TULSA, Okla. – Dartmouth men's tennis competed in three matches in the qualifying draw of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-America Championship on Tuesday.
In the second round of qualifying singles, junior Diego Pedraza and Hendrik Jebens of San Diego State had to go to a third set after Pedraza won the first set, 7-6, and Jebens took the second, 6-4. It came down to the very end, but Jebens would walk away with a 6-4 victory in the third.
In the first round of doubles, Pedraza paired up with sophomore Ciro Riccardi to take on Jon Ho and Keivon Tabrizi. The Big Green duo fell to the Demon Deacons, 6-2, 6-3.
After receiving a first round bye, seniors Dovydas Sakinis and Brendan Tannenbaum played a second-round doubles match against Texas A&M's AJ Cantanzariti and Arthur Rinderknech and defeated the Aggies by scores of 6-3, 6-2.
“Dovydas and Brendan executed very well today,” assistant coach Tom Boysen said. “They played solid team doubles and put a lot of pressure on their opponents by repeatedly putting good returns in play.
“Diego played a high quality match against a very good opponent and wasn't able to get the win,” Boysen continued. “His level of tennis was great throughout the match. He and Ciro played a solid team from Wake Forest and came up just short.”
Sakinis and Tannenbaum will play in the third round of doubles qualifying on Wednesday. If they win that match, they will play again later in the day and, if they win the second match, they will make it into the main draw.
