Yale, Brown Recap
The losing streak moved to five games for the Dartmouth women's basketball team last weekend, as the Big Green fell to Yale (60-46) and Brown (50-47). On Friday, poor shooting hurt the Big Green down the stretch, which saw a the hosts field goalless for the final 11 minutes of play. On Saturday, the roles were reversed as Brown was unable to make a basket in the final nine minutes, but Dartmouth could not complete the comeback. Junior Lakin Roland led the Big Green in scoring in games and netted 14 and 17 points, respectively.

Cornell Series
The 72nd meeting between the Big Green and Big Red will begin Dartmouth's first Ivy weekend road trip of the season. Dartmouth is looking to snap a four-game losing streak versus Cornell. Dartmouth holds a 54-17 advantage against its “Big” combatant. The first official meeting took place at the Ivy Tournament in 1977, when the Big Red advanced with a one-point victory, 50-49. Dartmouth won the next seven meetings with two games played in the tournament. The Big Green won 14 consecutive games during the late 1980's. Cornell has won six of the last eight.
Scouting the Big Red
Cornell enters this weekend with the second most overall wins by an Ivy League team with 13. At 4-2 in the league, the Big Red split over the weekend with Penn and Princeton, defeating the Quakers (60-49) and falling to the only undefeated team in college basketball, 75-47. Nia Marshall leads the squad with 17 points and eight rebounds per game. Nicholle Aston is second in both categories at 12.2 and 7.2, respectively.
Columbia Series
The Big Apple welcomes the Upper Valley for the 62nd time in league play. Dartmouth won the first 13 games before dropping both contests in the 1991 season. Dartmouth is 3-0 in tournament games against the Lions and split the series last season, winning at home, but falling on the road. The Big Green's 49-12 record over the Lions began back in 1977, when the Big Green defeated then Barnard College, 64-20.
Scouting the Lions
Columbia has lost its last six games — all Ivy — after defeating NJIT and Fairleigh Dickinson to round out non-conference play. Of Columbia's six victories, the Lions have won in consecutive appearances twice. Three players are scoring in double figures for second-year head coach Stephanie Glance. Tori Oliver is leading the squad with 17.1 points per game. Rookie Camille Zimmerman has picked up five Ivy League Rookie of the Week awards and is second in team scoring at 14.3. Classmate Alexa Giuliano has also received a Rookie of the Week selection and is third with 11.2 points per contest.
It Might As Well Be Charity
One of Dartmouth's strong points this season has been the team's ability to get to the free throw line. At 10-10, the Big Green have had their share of ups-and-downs, but free throw shooting is one stat that stands out. In games won by Dartmouth, the Big Green connected on 151-of-210 or 71.9 percent. Although the team has a higher percentage in games lost (79.8), the Big Green have made 76 more in 116 attempts.
Climbing the Ranks
Senior Tia Dawson is making the best of her senior campaign. After missing nearly all of last season due to an injury, the Big Green veteran is moving up Dartmouth's All-Time rankings in rebounds and blocks. She is currently 14th in rebounds with 528 and has passed some all-time greats like Jeannie Cullen '06, Ashley Taylor '07 and Allison Greene '90. In blocks, Dawson is tied for eighth with Elise Morrison '06, rejecting 112 shots. Dawson is nine away from Jayne Daigle '86.
