THIS WEEKEND
The Dartmouth men's lacrosse team will host Brown to close the 2015 campaign Saturday. After the game, the Big Green will honor their eight seniors, who will be playing at Scully-Fahey one last time.
LAST TIME OUT
After scoring just one goal in the first quarter, Dartmouth turned up the aggression to defeat UMass Lowell, 18-9, during the teams' first-ever meeting at home on a chilly Tuesday evening. Phil Hession led the team with one goal and four assists for five points, while also breaking his own single-game record in face-offs, going 22-for-25 at the X. Adam Fishman had four points from three goals and one assist and Jack Korzelius had two markers to go with two assists. UMass Lowell got on the board first with a Martin Winter marker with 12:51 to play and the River Hawks sat one ahead until the end of the quarter. With nine seconds remaining in the first and just one tick left with extra player, Cam Lee scored his seventh of the season to tie the score at one going into the second. Dartmouth's first lead of the game came just over 10 seconds into the second quarter when Fishman netted his 21st of the season. From there, the Green took that lead and ran with it, outscoring the River Hawks, 7-1 in the second stanza. After UMass Lowell found the back of the net five times in the third to make it an 11-7 game, Dartmouth found its groove in the fourth, scoring five times to easily defeat the visitors. The next day, Fishman and Korzelius were named to the Ivy League Honor Roll for their performances during the game.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Brown is having its most successful campaign in years, improving on 8-6 marks from the past two years. The Bears started 2015 with five straight victories before dropping a heartbreaker, 10-9, to Bucknell on March 17. They won three more, including a 10-8 win over Princeton, who is currently first in the Ivy League, but dropped two to Penn (14-11) and Yale (16-10). Since then, Brown has defeated Providence (15-11), No. 10 Cornell (15-6) and Bryant (9-8). Dylan Molloy not only leads the Bears and the conference, but he is second in the nation in goals (53) and third in points (81) and was recently named to the Tewaarton Watch List as a candidate for the nation's top player.
LEADING THE WAY
Wiley Osborne leads the Big Green with 31 points from 12 goals and 19 assists. Fishman is first in markers (23) and is second in points (24). Hession is top with 93 ground balls and, after going 22-for-25 in face-offs against UMass Lowell on Tuesday, is currently 128-for-201 at the X (.637).
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Blair Friedensohn has started all 12 games, making 120 saves (which puts him third in the Ivy League) while allowing 133 goals, has a 12.06 goals against average and a .474 save percentage. He is currently 4-7 on the season. In the loss to Penn, he made 12 stops, including a handful of key saves to keep Dartmouth in the game. Colin Heffernan has appeared in three contests in 2015, making three saves and allowing nine markers, getting his first win of the year against Wagner on March 7. He has a 9.42 goals against average and a .250 save percentage. CALLAHAN & CO.
The 2015 season is all about rebuilding. That rebuild began last summer with the hiring of Callahan, who came to Hanover after spending the last seven years as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator at Lehigh. Callahan brought in Tucker Kear and Kevin Gould to round out the Big Green's new look on the sidelines.
