Sailing Wins NY Dinghy and Qualifies for NEISA Women's Nationals

HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth sailing team had a monster weekend with four top 10 finishes, including a victory at the Greater New York Dinghy Regatta and a pair of second place finishes at the George Morris Trophy and then 80th Boston Dinghy Cup. The Big Green also qualified for NEISA Women's Nationals with a sixth place finish at the NEISA Women's Championship (Reed Trophy).

At the Greater New York Dinghy Regatta, the Big Green had a low score of 40 points to take the event. Dartmouth got 25 points from the A-division duo of Erik Weis and Connor Lehan. The B-division duo of Nathaniel Johansson and Caroline Lauer won their group with 15 points. Dartmouth won this historical event for the second time in five years.

At the 80th Boston Dinghy Cup, the three-division regatta saw a low score of 44 from the C-division (Ian Storck and Madeleine Cooney). Charles Lalumiere and Abigail Rohman finished fifth in the B-division and Scott Houck and Mia Steck took seventh in the A-division.

Dartmouth had a great showing at the George Morris Trophy with a second place finish. Duncan Williford and Nate Greason finished second in the B-division with 41 points and Robert Floyd and John Lewis took third in the A-division with 42 point.

Eight teams qualified for the NEISA Women's Nationals over the weekend with the Big Green taking a spot after a sixth place finish at the Reed Trophy. Dartmouth's 212 score was nine points ahead of Rhode Island, who took the final position. Deirdre Lambert and Lizzie Guynn finished in second in the A-division with 78 points, just five behind Boston College for the top spot.
