THIS WEEK
The Dartmouth men's lacrosse team will be on the road for the second weekend in a row, playing conference foe Yale at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
LAST TIME OUT
The Green had their three-game winning streak cut short with an 8-2 loss to No. 7 Cornell on Schoellkopf Field on Saturday afternoon. A goal by Cornell's John Edmonds 51 seconds into the opening quarter kicked things off, but defense was on point for both teams, as zero goals and a combined 12 shots were taken in the remaining 14 minutes, including ones that hit the post by Cam Lee and Jake Weil. With 11:14 to go in the second, Austin Duncan found the back of the net for the first time this season to tie things up following a pass from Phil Hession. With 45 seconds remaining in the game, junior Jack Connolly scored his third of the season after connecting with sophomore Wiley Osborne, netting the only goal of the fourth quarter.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Yale opened 2015 with five straight victories, having that winning streak cut short with a 14-7 loss to Cornell on March 14 and an 11-10 drop to Princeton the following Saturday. Since then, the Bulldogs have gone back to their winning ways, defeating Penn (15-7) and Sacred Heart (13-3). Against the Pioneers on Tuesday, the Bulldogs scored the first 10 goals to easily defeat the visitors. Conrad Oberbeck leads the team in markers (26), assists (12) and points (38).
LAST TIME AGAINST YALE
Dartmouth battled through in-game adversity several times, but eventually fell, 16-10, to No. 14 Yale on April 5, 2014 on Scully-Fahey Field. The Big Green had a 3-0 lead 10 minutes into the first quarter before the Bulldogs answered back with eight straight goals throughout the opening 2:50 of the third. Following that stretch, Dartmouth responded with a much better second half, scoring seven goals in the final two quarters. The visitors held a slight 38-32 advantage in shots, but were 5-for-5 in man-up situations, while the home team managed just one goal in five man-up scenarios.
LEADING THE WAY
Osborne remains first on the team in points (17) off seven goals and 10 assists, while Jack Korzelius is top in markers (13), while essiohHession is first in ground balls (48) and face-offs won (66-of-109).
BETWEEN THE PIPES
So far this year, Blair Friedensohn has started all seven games, making 66 saves while allowing 80 goals, has a 13.03 goals against average and a .452 save percentage. He is currently 2-3 on the season. Colin Heffernan has appeared in three contests in 2015, making three saves and allowing nine markers, getting his first win of the year against Wagner on March 7. He has a 9.42 goals against average and a .250 save percentage. Vandenberg made his collegiate debut between the pipes against Harvard, spending 2:01 in the cage.
CALLAHAN & CO.
The 2015 season is all about rebuilding. That rebuild began last summer with the hiring of Callahan, who came to Hanover after spending the last seven years as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator at Lehigh. Callahan brought in Tucker Kear and Kevin Gould to round out the Big Green's new look on the sidelines.
FRESH FACES
Making their collegiate debut this year in the Class of 2018 are Willis Bocock, Jase Davis, Cormac Dugan, Cody George, Alex Kelly, Evan Key, Jack Korzelius, Patrick Lesch, Richie Loftus, James McJunkin, Sam Runkle, Doug Strazza and Ty Vandenberg. Korzelius leads the way with 13 markers, while Key has netted a pair of goals and assists for four points.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Green will be home on Saturday, April 11, hosting Ivy League rival Princeton at 1 p.m. After that, Dartmouth will be on the road for its final two road games of the short season before returning home for two more on Scully-Fahey to close the year.
