Brick & Brew Athletes of the Week - Cook & Masterson

First Invitational of the fall, first win, first tournament of the fall, first tournament win. The men's cross country team and women's volleyball team started the home 2015 slate with wins this past weekend. The men were led by senior Brian Masterson who ran away from the field in winning the Dartmouth Invitational in 24:24.6. Senior Kayden Cook earned tournament MVP honors, leading the volleyball team to wins over West Virginia and UConn.

Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Hanover Brick and Brew Athletes of the Week.

Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Hanover Brick and Brew Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.

Brian Masterson, Sr., Seattle, Wash., Cross Country

The Dartmouth senior picked up the first race victory in his collegiate career Saturday morning at the 2015 Dartmouth Invitational at the Hanover Country Club. Masterson ran the 8K course in 24:24.6 to not only take first individually, but also lead a Big Green contingent that earned 15 points and was the team champion once again.

Kayden Cook, Sr., S, Southlake, Texas, Volleyball

Kayden Cook and the Dartmouth volleyball team had a huge weekend at the Dartmouth Tournament, going 2-0 following 3-1 defeats of both WVU (25-20, 25-17, 20-25, 31-29) and UConn (25-19, 11-25, 25-22, 25-22). At the conclusion of the tournament, Cook was named All-Tournament MVP for amassing five kills, 92 assists, one service ace, 14 digs and two block assists.
