ANN ARBOR, Mich. – After falling to Kentucky the day before, the No. 32 Dartmouth women's tennis team took down San Francisco, 4-1, on the final day of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. The Big Green are now 1-1 on the young season, while the Dons dipped to 0-2 following a loss to Michigan on Saturday.
At No. 3 doubles, senior Julienne Keong and junior Jacqueline Crawford had an easy 6-1 win over Sofia Holmberg and Shanna Dos Santos, while a 6-3 victory by junior Taylor Ng and Kristina Mathis over Andrea Ka and Thyra Taune at No. 1 gave the doubles point to Dartmouth.
Sophomore Julia Schroeder picked up the first singles point with a 6-2, 6-1 defeat of Holmberg at the No. 5 position and Yau followed that up with a 6-2, 6-2 win against Taune at No. 2. The Dons got one back with a win in the top spot to make it 3-1 in favor of the Green, but a 6-1, 7-5 victory by Mathis over Genevieve McCloskey at No. 4 sealed the win for Dartmouth.
Next up for the Green will be the ECAC Winter Championship, which will take place Friday through Sunday, Feb. 5-7 at the Boss Tennis Center. Last year, Dartmouth won its first-ever title by defeating Brown, Princeton and Columbia.
