SATURDAY'S GAME
The Dartmouth men's soccer team continues Ancient Eight play when it welcomes Yale to Burnham Field on Saturday.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Yale heads into this weekend's match after playing to a 3-3 draw in double overtime with arch rival Harvard on Oct. 1. That tie snapped a three-game losing streak where the Bulldogs were outscored, 7-0. As a team, Yale has scored seven goals this season, with John Leisman and Henry Clark-Flugstad scoring two goals apiece. In goal, Kees Schipper has made 18 saves with a 1.86 goals-against-average.
LAST TIME AGAINST YALE
On Oct. 10, 2015, the Big Green handed the Bulldogs a 1-0 loss in New Haven, Connecticut. Senior Samuel Rosen scored in the 52nd minute after he collected a loose ball outside the box and moved to his right. After just a few strides, the Branford, Connecticut, native — playing in front of family and friends just down the road from his hometown — unleashed a high, arcing shot that sailed across the box and inside the far left goalpost for the only marker of the match.
LAST TIME OUT
Justin Donawa scored in the 71st minute to propel Dartmouth past New Hampshire, 1-0, at Burnham Field last Wednesday night. Each team did a solid job maintaining possession of the ball throughout the game as the Big Green and the Wildcats took 10 shots apiece through 90 minutes. After a scoreless first half, Donawa broke the stalemate with his second goal of the season when the Bermuda native received a pass from Matt Danilack and sprinted up toward the box, finishing with a hard shot that ended up in the lower left corner of the net.
WIN, LOSE, OR DRAW
Dartmouth has played to five double-overtime draws this season. The last time the Big Green recorded four ties was in 2013 in Chad Riley's first season as head coach. The most draws in a season for Dartmouth is seven in 2004.
AYE AYE CAPTAIN
Dartmouth is led by captains James Hickok and Emmanuel Arteaga. Also this season, Dartmouth will have three assistant captains, Wyatt Omsberg, Tyler Dowse and Danilack.
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Hickok has performed well for Dartmouth in goal so far in 2016. He leads the Ivy League in save percentage (.795) and first in goals against (8).
TAKING CHANCES
Greer and Donawa have been creating scoring chances for the Big Green this season. Greer leads the Ancient Eight with 26 shots, while Donawa is not far behind in third with 25. As a team, Dartmouth is tied for second in the league with 120 total shots through eight games.
