BOSTON, Mass. – The Dartmouth women's cross country team finished sixth at the 2016 New England Cross Country Championship Saturday morning at Franklin Park.
Junior Leigh Moffett was the first Big Green harrier to cross the finish line of the 5K course, doing so in 17:58.88 to claim fifth overall in a field of 234 individuals.
Led by Moffett's fifth-place showing, Dartmouth posted 173 points to earn sixth, ahead of 29 other competing teams. New Hampshire won the meet with 71 points.
Freshman Lauren Sapone (18:25.43) was 20th overall, while the Green top-30 performances from sophomore Eliza Dekker (18:28.94, 24th) and freshman Julia Stevenson (18:32.11, 27th). Freshman Allison Anderson's 97th-place finish in 19:19.29 capped the team scoring.
Dartmouth is set to tackle the one of the most challenging fields of competition in its next outing as it runs in the NCAA Pre-Meet in Terre Haute, Indiana, next Saturday.
