PRINCETON, N.J. – After the Dartmouth men's soccer team defeated Cornell, 1-0 on Saturday, two members of the Big Green took home Ivy League weekly awards. Goalkeeper James Hickok was named Co-Player of the Week, while Henry Baldwin was selected as Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. For both Baldwin and Hickok, it is the first weekly award of their careers in Hanover.
Dartmouth captured an important victory over the weekend, as the race for the Ivy League crown tightens. The Big Green sit atop the standings with 13 points, while Columbia, Brown and Penn are tied for second with 10 points apiece heading into the final weekend of the regular season.
Baldwin's goal in the 48th minute in Ithaca proved to be the difference maker, propelling his team to victory. Matt Greer lined up for a corner kick on the far side, sending the ball into the box, which Baldwin was able to head in for his first career goal in a Dartmouth uniform.
Hickok played well in net for the Big Green, finishing the night with three saves in his fifth shutout victory of 2016. Hickok will share the weekly accolade with the Bears' Will Cross. The Westport, Conn. native is currently second in the Ivy League in save percentage (.836) and goals-against-average (0.68).
Dartmouth returns to action this Saturday when it hosts Brown for Senior Day with the Ivy League tile on the line.
