WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The fifth-ranked Dartmouth men's squash team returned to its winning ways as the Big Green defeated No. 18 Williams, 6-3 on the road on Tuesday night.
The victory improves Dartmouth to 8-3, while the Ephs fall to 7-15.
The Big Green got off to a solid start when freshman Matthew Giegerich and junior Glen Brickman both won their matches in three straight games. Junior Andrew Field dropped his match 3-1, but Dartmouth held on to a 2-1 overall advantage in the contest heading into the second round of matches.
Freshman Carson Spahr and sophomore Brian Giegerich opened up the next round with 3-0 victories, while senior Kyle Martino dropped the first two games of his match before retiring due to an injury.
In the final round, junior Nick Harrington scored a 3-0 victory. Senior James Fisch took his opponent to five games after dropping the first game, but he came back to win the next two. With the score tied 2-2, Fisch won the final frame in extra points to record the win. Sophomore Alvin Heumann competed well, but lost in four games.
The Big Green return to the court this Friday when they host Yale at 4 p.m. on the Berry Squash Courts.
