SATURDAY'S GAME
For the first time in 2016, the Dartmouth women's lacrosse team will head out on the road, traveling to Gainesville to take on Florida Saturday at noon.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green won its second straight game to open the season Tuesday against cross-state rival New Hampshire. Dartmouth trailed at halftime, but mounted a comeback bid in the second to overtake the Wildcats and hold on for the one-goal, 11-10 win at Scully-Fahey Field.
AGAINST THE GATORS
This year marks the fifth straight season in which Dartmouth and Florida have tangled in women's lacrosse. The Gators own a 4-0 edge in the series following last season's 18-10 win in the Sunshine State. Only once has the matchup been played in Hanover as Florida won a 14-9 contest during the 2013 campaign.
SCOUTING FLORIDA
The Gators are currently ranked No. 3 in the nation in the latest IWLCA Poll released earlier this week. The new ranking comes on the heels of a 16-15 win at then-No. 2 North Carolina last Saturday. The upset of the Tar Heels propelled Florida up five spots from No. 8. The Gators also have wins against Loyola (15-6) and Michigan (12-11) on their 2016 resume thus far. Shayna Pirreca is the team's top scorer at this point with 13 points, while Mollie Stevens is second thanks to 11 goals.
FIVE AGAIN
For the second straight game, senior Jaclyn Leto notched five goals against the Wildcats on Tuesday. The New Jersey native also dished out her first assist of the season and the 20th of her career in the game. She currently leads the team with 11 points and has 128 in her career to rank 20th all-time at Dartmouth.
THREE AND TWO
Taryn Deck is second on the team in scoring after another three-goal, two-assist performance. So far, the sophomore has posted the same scoring line in each of the team's two games in 2016.
DRAW CONTROLS ARE IMPORTANT
After trailing 5-4 at halftime, the Big Green started to control play in the second half with much of that stemming from more possession as a result of an 8-4 edge in draw controls. For the game, Leto led all player with six draws — moving her into sole possession of eighth all-time at Dartmouth with 92 for her career — with Larson Bennett setting a new career high with three.
A BRICK WAHLE IN GOAL
Dartmouth freshman goalkeeper Charlotte Wahle made several key stops in goal against UNH. Wahle finished the day with seven saves and her second career win in as many appearances.
MILESTONE WATCH
Jaclyn Leto
– 128 Points (Needs 9 more to move into top-15 all-time at Dartmouth)
– 92 draw controls (8 more for 100, 2 more to tie for 7th all-time)
