HANOVER, N.H. -The Dartmouth women's lacrosse team hosted UMass Lowell for its final non-conference matchup of the regular season on Wednesday, handing the Riverhawks a 14-13 loss.Â
Maya Kendall had 19 draw controls, bringing her to 157 draw controls for the season. Kendall now sits second in Ivy League single-season draw controls, a position previously set by Yale's Izzy Nixon in 2019.Â
"I'm really proud of how we handled that pressure in the last few minutes, as obviously, that was something that we needed to be better at from our last game, but there's still a lot for us to work on in these last two upcoming Ivy League games," Alex McFadden, Josie Harper Head Coach of Women's Lacrosse, said.Â
Dartmouth jumped to an early 3-0 lead before the Riverhawks scored back-to-back goals to get on the board. The Big Green added two points to their lead, but UMass Lowell fought back, bringing the score within one point. Small, Christensen, and Puccio each scored a goal to take a four-point lead going into halftime.Â
Small scored her second goal of the night to increase the lead to five, but the Riverhawks began picking up momentum, going on a 6-1 run to tie the game at 11-11 in the fourth period. Puccio fired a shot into the net to regain the lead before UMass Lowell's Audra Hansen made the score even again.Â
With three minutes left in the game, Christensen found the back of the net for the fourth time to give Dartmouth the lead. Two minutes later, Small secured the Big Green's victory and brought their all-time series record against the Riverhawks to 5-0.Â
The Big Green will travel to New York on Saturday to face Columbia in their final road game of the regular season.
