NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Dartmouth men's squash team ended its historic season with a 6-3 victory over Ivy League foe Columbia in the consolation round of the College Squash Association Team Championship on Sunday.
The victory improves the Big Green to 10-6, while the Lions fall to 7-8.
In the first round of matches, sophomore Brian Giegerich and senior Kyle Martino got Dartmouth off to a strong start with two comfortable 3-0 wins. Freshman Sam Epley lost a close 13-11 first game before falling to his opponent 3-0.
Round two saw continued dominance at the bottom of the lineup when Glen Brickman swept his opponent in three games. Freshman Carson Spahr fell 3-0 before junior Nick Harrington won the closest match of the round in five.
Senior James Fisch and freshman Matthew Giegerich both achieved 3-0 victories as sophomore Alvin Heumann established an early lead before falling 3-0.
The Big Green return to action for the CSA Individual Championship next weekend in Stamford, Conn.
