Men's Tennis
vs Dartmouth Invite #1

2/5/2016 10:49:00 PM | Men's Tennis
RALEIGH, N.C. – After two huge wins over higher ranked teams last weekend, the No. 34 Dartmouth men's tennis team fell to No. 32 North Carolina State, 5-2, in its first road match of the 2016 season on Friday. The Big Green dipped to 5-2, while the Wolfpack improved to 4-2.
“I played for Coach Jon Choboy at Brown,” head coach Chris Drake said, “so there was nothing surprising at all about how he had his team ready to play well, fight hard, and really take it to us at the beginning of singles after we won the doubles point. It's exactly what we expected from their team. All respect to him and his players for how they responded. We will learn from this match and be ready to take on a good Old Dominion team on Sunday.”
Dartmouth took the doubles point by winning on every court. Playing for the first time together at No. 1, senior Dovydas Sakinis and freshman Roko Glasnovic defeated Ivan and Igor Saveljic, 6-1, and at the No. 2 position, senior Brendan Tannenbaum and junior George Wall took down Nick Horton and Simon Norenius, 6-3.
Junior Max Schmidt and sophomore Max Fliegner had a 6-3 victory over Thomas Weigel and Michael Ogden at No. 3 to head into singles with a one-point edge.
The Wolfpack went on to win five straight singles matches to clinch the win. The Green's lone victory came at the No. 5 position when Wall had a 7-5, 7-5 defeat of Shoti Meparidze.
Dartmouth will return to the court on Sunday with a 10 a.m. match against No. 61 Old Dominion.
