SATURDAY'S GAME
The Dartmouth women's lacrosse team heads to Princeton for a match up with the ninth-ranked Tigers on Saturday afternoon at Sherrerd Field at Class of 52 Stadium.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green pulled out another come-from-behind victory on Tuesday afternoon at home against Boston University. The Big Green trailed for much of the first half against the Terriers before tying things up at 7-7 right before the break and setting up a second-half run that resulted in a 15-13 non-conference win for Dartmouth.
EIGHT IS ENOUGH
Senior Jaclyn Leto scored eight times in the win against the Terries, accounting for more than half of her team's total scoring output in the contest. The effort was just the seventh eight-or-more-goal game in the program's 44 seasons and the first in nearly 16 years. It was also a new career high for Leto, who had previously scored seven in the 2015 opener at UConn last year.
OPENING UP IVY PLAY
Saturday's game marks the start of Ivy league play for both teams. Dartmouth is looking to snap a two-year losing streak in conference openers after dropping last year's at home to Princeton and the year before to Yale.
AGAINST THE TIGERS
Last season's game between these two teams was highlighted by then-senior goalkeeper Jessica Frieder's career day in the circle, making 12 saves. However, despite the strong play of Frieder, 10th-ranked Princeton came away with an 8-5 win. Overall, the Tigers own a 25-18 edge in the all-time series following the most recent regular-season victory.
SCOUTING PRINCETON
Like they were last year, the Tigers are unbeaten coming into their matchup with the Big Green. Princeton is currently 3-0 after wins against Georgetown, Drexel and a stunner against Virginia in the season opener, 14-7. As expected, Olivia Hompe is leading the team in scoring with 17 points on 14 goals. Hompe trails only Leto in terms of goal scoring in the Ivy League, as she is six back of the Dartmouth senior. Colby Chanenchuk's four assists are good for the team lead through the first three games. In goal, it's been a healthy does of Ellie DeGarmo as she boasts an 8.33 goals against average and a .579 save percentage.
PHENOMENAL FIRST YEAR
Freshman Elizabeth Mastrio is off to a great start to her collegiate career. Against Florida, she scored once and added one ground ball and a game-high five draw controls. So far this season, the Wilbraham, Massachusetts, native is fourth on the team in scoring with six points (3-3-6), while tied for the lead in caused turnovers with Jaclyn Leto and Danielle Lisovicz, as each have four.
LEAGUE LEADER
At this point of the season, Leto leads all Ivy players in goals (20), points (22) and shots (33). Leto's 5.0 goals per game are also the most in the nation by any player with her 5.50 points per game ranking sixth.
HELPING HAND
Junior Taryn Deck dished out a pair of assists against BU, giving her a team-leading six this season, good for second in the Ancient Eight. Her 1.50 assists per game ranked 46th in the nation as of March 3, second amongst league players only to Penn's Nina Corcoran (3.33, 3rd).
