SATURDAY'S GAME
The Dartmouth women's lacrosse team takes on Harvard Saturday in Cambridge in a game broadcast live on NESNplus. Opening draw control is set for 1 p.m. at Harvard Stadium.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green are coming off their biggest win of the season with a 10-9 home victory Sunday against No. 16 Penn. Thanks to six goals and a huge caused turnover in the final seconds from senior Jaclyn Leto and another three goals from junior Taryn Deck, the Green and White managed to pick up their first win against the Quakers since the 2012 campaign.
SCOUTING HARVARD
The Crimson welcome Dartmouth to Cambridge, sporting identical 5-3 overall and 1-1 Ivy League records as their Ancient Eight rivals. Junior Marisa Romeo leads the team in both goals (17) and points (23) just past the midway point of the season with Julia Glynn not far back in scoring with 22 points on 12 goals and 10 assists. Goalkeeper Kelly Weis has started every game and owns an 8.57 goals-against average and a .500 save percentage.
AGAINST THE CRIMSON
Saturday marks the 42nd all-time meeting between the conference foes with the series split evenly, 20-20-1. The Crimson picked up wins in three of the last five meetings dating back to 2011, including last season's game in Hanover, 9-8. Prior to 2011, Dartmouth had won 15 straight at Harvard's expense starting in 1997
AWARDS!
For her performance against he Quakers, Leto was tabbed as the Ivy League's Offensive and Co-Defensive Player of the Week, becoming the first player in conference history to win each award in the same week and the first player to win both in a single season since 2009. Leto was also announced as the Lacrosse Magazine National Women's Player of the Week on Monday. The senior followed that by being named the IWLCA Division I Player of the Week on Wednesday evening.
SIX LEADS TO SIX
Leto's six goals give her 32 for the season, the sixth-best figure in all of Division I. Her 4.0 goals per game rank second nationally. As it stands now, Leto's 2.75 career points per game ranks 41st amongst active players, while her 120 goals are not only 10th all-time at Dartmouth, but are also in the top-20 nationally by active players.
ROOKIE? BUT NOT REALLY
Freshman goalkeeper Charlotte Wahle continues to play well in her first season in Hanover. As it stands now, Wahle ranks third in the league with five wins, while fifth in ground balls per game with 2.25.
DON'T OVERLOOK HER
Though Leto might be the one garnering all the national attention, junior Taryn Deck is the one benefiting. Deck already has played a career-high number of games (8) and with 15 goals, seven assists and 22 points has already eclipsed her career totals from her first two seasons combined in Hanover. She also has new career highs in ground balls (9), caused turnovers (4) and draw controls (10).
IT'S ALL ABOUT POSSESSION!
Dartmouth has held an advantage in draw controls in all but one of its eight games this season (USC). The Big Green's 12.50 draws per game is the best figure in the Ivy League and ranks 26th in the country. No other Ivy team is in the top-50 as Harvard ranks second at 51st (11.25) nationally.
PROTECT THE HOME FIELD
With the win against the Quakers, Dartmouth is now 4-0 this season at home. The lone win away from Scully-Fahey was a neutral-site game against Denver in LA on Mar. 20.
