CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Dartmouth women's lacrosse team dropped an Ivy League road game Saturday at Harvard Stadium, 17-9.
The Crimson were led by Julia Glynn and her remarkable 10-point performance on six goals and four assists.
The Big Green drop to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in Ancient Eight play, while Harvard improves to 6-3 and 2-1 in conference games.
“Harvard outplayed us in all facets of the game,” head coach Amy Patton said. “I thought there were a lot of critical moments where, had we been more disciplined, we could have mounted a better comeback bid. There were moments when we could've made it a two-goal game, but we made an unforced error that cost us.
“Kudos to the Crimson, because they wanted it more than we did today,” Patton added. “We have to rebound, move forward and find a way to be better when we go play Cornell.”
Once again, senior Jaclyn Leto — the reigning Ivy League Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week as well as national player of the week by a pair of outlets — led Dartmouth. Leto registered three goals in the game with two coming on the free position.
With 35 goals through nine games in 2016, Leto continues to lead all Ivy League players.
Junior Taryn Deck and freshman Campbell Brewer each had a pair of goals as well. For Brewer, it was the first multi-goal effort of her career as she entered Saturday's tilt with just one to her credit in the first eight games of the season.
Kathryn Giroux and Courtney Weisse also added markers in the loss.
Unfortunately for the Big Green, the story of the day was the play of Glynn and her 10 points. The individual effort not only pushed her in front Marissa Romero for the Crimson team lead, but also has her fourth in the Ivy League in scoring with 32 points.
Harvard took an 8-3 lead into halftime following a 3-0 run near the end of the opening period. The Crimson continued to build on their advantage with nine second-half goals on the strength of a 5-0 stretch in just over a span of four minutes more than halfway through.
Harvard became just the second team this season to collect more draw controls than the Green and White, holding a 17-11 edge. Of the 11 Dartmouth draws in the game, Leto collected six and ranks third in the conference with 29 this season.
Freshman goalkeeper Charlotte Wahle had six saves in the loss, as did the Crimson's Kelly Weis at the other end of the field. The home team outshot the visitors from Hanover, 37-21, in the game.
Dartmouth is back in action next Saturday, April 9 in Ithaca against Cornell. Game time is noon.
