HANOVER, N.H. – The No. 8 Dartmouth lightweight rowing team faced No. 4 Cornell on the Connecticut River on Saturday, racing in the 54th annual Baggaley Bowl. The Big Red retained the bowl and have now won four in a row.
In the first race of the day, the third varsity, Cornell completed the course in first place (5:51.2) and was followed by Dartmouth less than 20 seconds later (6:12.7). The Red completed the second varsity in 5:43.1, while the Green finished with a time of 6:03.0.
Cornell claimed the Baggaley Bowl (5:38.1) by just over four seconds and it was by far the closest race the two teams had all morning. Dartmouth crossed the line soon after (5:42.5).
On Sunday, May 15, the Big Green will head to Worcester, Massachusetts, for the EARC Sprints Regatta. Last season, Dartmouth advanced to the Petite Final in three boats and finished in ninth place overall, missing out on qualifying for the IRA Regatta by one spot.
