HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth women's field hockey team fell behind early Sunday against Pacific and was unable to generate the offense needed to come back, falling, 6-1, at Chase AstroTurf Field.
The Big Green drop to 1-3 this season with the loss, while the Tigers moved to 2-3.
Junior captain Morgan Philie scored Dartmouth's lone goal of the contest in the 54th minute, but it only pulled her team to within four as the Tigers managed to notch the game's first five scores, including a quartet of tallies in the first half.
It was an outstanding day for Pacific's Savannah Burns who had a goal and three assists for a five-point afternoon. Kyleigh Morrison and Taylor Dempsey both came off the bench for the visitors to net a pair of tallies as the Tigers won their second game in Hanover in as many days, having defeated Bryant, 5-0, on Saturday.
Freshman goalkeeper Emma Plumb was peppered all day, making eight saves and allowing six. At the other end of the field, Laura Pujade made five stops in the winning effort.
Dartmouth put forth a better effort in the second half, edging Pacific in both shots (9-8) and corners (5-2) in the final 35 minutes of action. For the game, though, the Tigers outshot the home team, 21-14, but trailed in corner plays, 8-7.
The Big Green are back in action at home on Friday against Vermont. The Tigers finish their three-game stand at Chase with an 11 a.m. game against the Catamounts on Tuesday morning.
