Drexel Defeats Dartmouth in Philadelphia, 6-3

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The ninth-ranked Dartmouth men's squash team fell to No. 5 Drexel, 6-3 in Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon.

The loss drops the Big Green to 4-5 overall while the Dragons improve to 10-4.

The Big Green found themselves down 3-1 after a set of very competitive first round matches. Junior Jack Harvey got the lone Big Green victory in the first round, taking down his opponent in four games.

Senior Nick Harrington battled hard, but was defeated in straight sets. Sophomore Sam Epley went down early to his opponent, but battled back to win the third game, before dropping the fourth. Meanwhile Sophomore Carson Spahr went up 2-1 before ultimately falling in a hard-fought five game match.

In the second round of matches junior Brian Giegerich won his first game, but was then taken down in the next three games. Senior Glen Brickman fought hard in his match and ultimately won in a five-game thriller. Sophomore Matt Giegerich played lights-out, dismantling his opponent in a clean three games.

Freshman Brandon De Otaduy Nam lost his match in four games after dropping the first two. De Otaduy made a good comeback in the third to pull within a game before losing the fourth. Junior Alvin Heumann put up a phenomenal effort, going up 2-1, but couldn't convert several match balls. Heumann lost the fourth game before dropping the fifth and the match.

Dartmouth returns to action next weekend when the Big Green host Cornell on Saturday and Columbia on Sunday.
