HANOVER, N.H. – Five members of the Dartmouth men's tennis team were named to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team on Tuesday, which is two more than the previous year. The Big Green squad also received team recognition.
In all, 720 men's and women's teams and 3,908 student-athletes across all five divisions of college tennis were honored.
Max Fliegner, David Horneffer, Paul Midgley, Ciro Riccardi and Diego Pedraza were recognized by the organization. Pedraza was named All-Academic for the third year in a row, while the other four were first-time honorees.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must meet the following criteria: be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale).
Dartmouth ended the 2016-17 season with an overall record of 11-14 and 3-4 in conference play. At the conclusion of the year, Charlie Broom was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year and the ITA Northeast Region Rookie of the Year.
