THIS WEEKEND'S GAMES
The Dartmouth field hockey team will split its weekend between Granite State venues, hosting No. 6 Harvard Saturday before heading to Durham to take on the Wildcats on Sunday.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green picked up a pair of 2-1 wins last weekend, beginning with Friday's game at Columbia and then again Sunday afternoon at a very windy UMass Lowell.
SENIOR DAY
Following Saturday's game with the Crimson, the program will honor the achievements and contributions of the five members of the Class of 2019.
Evie Bird,
Jessica Valvano,
Amrit Ahluwalia,
Hailey Valerio and
Gemma Bautista will be joined by family members in the annual Senior Day ceremonies on Chase Field at the conclusion of their final home game.
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON
•   Harvard is good.
•   The Crimson are No. 6 in the nation this week, jumping three spots in the polls after defeating No. 3 Princeton, 3-1, on the road last weekend.
•   The team is in the midst of an 11-game win streak and has already set a program record with 14 wins. A 1-0 win Thursday night at home against No. 13 Boston College kept the streak alive with the lone score coming on a corner play as time expired in the first half.
•   The only loss to their credit is a 3-1 defeat on the road at then-No. 3 Maryland back on Sept. 9.
•   A pair of juniors with similar styles of play are leading the way with Bente van Vlijmen posting 27 points on 11 goals and five assists. Maddie Earle is now tied with 27 points thanks to a team-leading 12 goals and three assists.
•   The Crimson seem to be loaded in goal as all three goalkeepers on the roster have played in at least four games and all have made at least a start. They've combined to post a 0.79 goals against average and a .738 save percentage.
SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE
•   The Wildcats are in the midst of a tough season, with a 4-11 record coming into the weekend.
•   UNH will host UAlbany Friday in the team's final America East game of the season. Sunday's contest against the Big Green is the final date on the schedule in 2018 for the Wildcats.
•   Finn Caron is the team's leader in both goals (5) and points (11) this season, while Rachel Bossi's four assists are the most by anyone on the roster. In goal, it's been a healthy dose of Kelsey Rudert as she has started 13 games this season and has a 2.56 GAA and has three of the team's four wins.
•   Dartmouth assistant coach
Taylor Rideout is a former UNH player, suiting up for the Wildcats for four seasons and graduating in 2016 before starting her coaching career.
ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
•   Thanks to her performances in goal last weekend, Valerio was named the DartmouthSports.com Female Athlete of the Week.
•   Valerio posted a pair of consecutive 2-1 wins.
•   She started things off with a victory in New York on Friday that needed a stop of a Columbia penalty stroke bid with under three minutes to play. She stacked the pads and turned aside the shot that would eventually help preserve the win.
•   Two days later at UMass Lowell, Valerio again was the defensive anchor in another one-goal Big Green win. She currently has 99 saves and ranks second in the Ivy League with 7.07 per game.
LATE WINNER
•   At Lowell, junior
Katie Spanos scored the go-ahead goal that proved to be the game winner with just four minutes and 13 seconds left in regulation.
•   It was not the latest goal scored this season by a Dartmouth player, but it was the latest someone on the Big Green had scored a game winner.
•   The previous mark for latest winner scored in 2018 was
Tatum Schultz at UMass (Amherst) on Sept. 9 when she netted the GWG with seven minutes and 48 seconds left in the game.
REACHING 150
•   After four prior attempts, head coach
Amy Fowler finally got to win No. 150 with the thriller at Columbia.
•   Already the program's all-time winningest and longest-tenured coach, Fowler reached the milestone victory on the Big Green sidelines in her 19th season.
