ATLANTA, Ga. — The Dartmouth women's golf team concluded its fall schedule with the third and final round of the Alexa Stirling Intercollegiate at the Atlanta Athletic Club on Sunday morning, finishing the day with a 318 (+30) to place 11th overall in the strong field with a 948 (+84). Freshman
Kaitlyn Lees provided the Big Green's low round of the day with a 6-over 78, recording two of the team's five birdies in the process.
Dartmouth began the tournament behind the eight ball with senior co-captain
Catharine Roddy slowed by an illness all weekend. But Lees was able to pick up some of the slack as the team's low scorer over the three rounds at 16-over par (232) to tie for 40th in the 64-player field. She was at her best on the par-5 holes, playing them at a collective 2-under par, a score bested by just three golfers. Today, she was in good shape over the first 14 holes with two birdies and three bogeys on her card, but stumbled a bit over the final four holes.
Yesterday's low scorer for the Big Green, sophomore
Moon Cheong, started slowly today but quickly righted her ship, parring 12 of the final 15 holes with a birdie to her credit as well to shoot 79 (+7) for the round and 236 (+20) for the tournament, tying for 46th. She made par on 35 of the 54 holes over the weekend, the 10th-most by any competitor on the par-72, 6,210-yard course.
Matching Cheong on the leaderboard in 46th place was freshman
Kristen Chen, who played the front and back nine at 4-over par each for an 80 (+8) today. Junior
Kristen Soh was a stroke behind Chen today with an 81, though she did sink a pair of birdies in her first six holes. She tied for 61st overall with a 28-over 244.
Host Louisville, ranked 36th nationally, barely held off 30th-ranked Auburn by a single stroke, carding an 882 (+18). The Tigers made up eight strokes today and had three golfers among the top five, but the Cardinals — led by Lauren Hartlage in second place with a 1-under 215 — all made par on the 18th to close out the win.
Virginia Tech's Keera Foocharoen earned medalist honors, shooting par on the final day to beat out Hartlage by three strokes with a 212 (-4).
Dartmouth will return to the links in the spring in preparation for the Ivy League Championship at the end of April.
