ITHACA, N.Y. – After scrimmaging against both Maine and New Hampshire to get ready for the season, the Dartmouth men's swimming and diving team officially kicked off 2018-19 against Cornell and Harvard on Friday, falling to the Crimson (210-83) and the Big Red (199-99).

In the 200-yard medley relay, the Big Green's A relay placed seventh (1:35.64). Made up of
John Hall,
Carter Jacobsen, Tang-e Tan and
Henry Patrick, that relay led the way for Dartmouth's B (1:36.81) and C relays (1:37.16) to follow directly after.

Connor LaMastra had a good day, finishing in the top four in all three of his individual events. He was second in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:41.84) and the 200-yard fly (1:50.13) and came in fourth place in the 500-yard freestyle (4:39.49) later in the day.

Joe Moll also swam well in his first collegiate meet, coming in fourth place in the 1000-yard freestyle (9:46.41), leaving over seven seconds between him and a Cornell swimmer in fifth. He also placed fourth in the 200-yard backstroke (1:52.71) and second in the 200-yard IM (1:56.05).

In the 100-yard backstroke,
Dylan Chan was seventh (52.85) and, in the 100-yard breaststroke,
Connor Richmond and
Parker Hershberger took sixth (59.07) and seventh (59.67), respectively. Richmond also had a good showing in the 200-yard IM, taking fourth (2:00.53).

Over on the diving boards,
Ray Neistat was fourth on both 1-meter (258.55) and 3-meter (270.35).

In the 100-yard freestyle, Tan tied with Harvard's Ryan Linnihan for seventh (48.45) and was followed by Patrick (48.76),
Brandon Liao (48.84) and Herschberger (48.91). Three Big Green swimmers finished within a second and a half of each other in the 100-yard fly:
Matt Luciano led the way in fifth (51.81) and was followed by Chan (53.12) and
Matt Degtyar (53.22).

Dartmouth ended the meet by finishing in second and fourth in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The A relay (3:09.04) touched two seconds behind Cornell in first, while the B relay had a time of 3:16.09.

At the end of the month, the Green will head to Providence for the three-day Bruno Invitational.
