THIS WEEKEND
After a two-week break from games, the Dartmouth women's hockey team is back with a pair of non-conference contests at Maine. The teams will meet at 2 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 24-25.
LAST TIME OUT
Having played five straight road games to start the season, the Big Green opened play at Thompson Arena with three home tilts, going 1-1-1 following games against Vermont (3-1) and RIT (1-5, 2-2 OT).
In the tie against the Tigers, Rose
Falzone and Chloe
Puddifant found the back of the net, while
Tess Bracken,
Megan Cornell and Sara
McClanahan also ended the game with an assist.
Christine Honor had 25 saves.
Bracken ended that week with four points in three games. She started with two goals in the win over the Catamounts, her first multi-tally game of the season. She had another goal in the loss to RIT on Friday and assisted on the second goal against the Tigers the following day.
She was named the
ECAC Hockey Player of the Week for her performance, picking up the award for the first time in her career. She currently leads the team in goals (4) and points (6).
SCOUTING THE BLACK BEARS
Maine enters the weekend with an overall record of 7-6-1. The Black Bears have gone winless since an 8-0 victory over Holy Cross on Nov. 4 and, since then, have fallen to Providence College (1-3, 1-4) and Northeastern (1-3), while tying the Huskies (3-3) the day after that loss.
Tereza Vanisova leads the team in both goals (9) and points (13), while Alyson
Mattueau is first with eight assists.
LAST TIME AGAINST MAINE
Dartmouth went 1-1 against Maine at home on Nov. 4-5, 2017. The Big Green came out strong in the first game, taking the Black Bears down by a score of 3-0 following goals by Sabrina
Huett, Cecilia Lopez and
Kate Landers. The following day, Hailey
Noronha ended up with two points, while Lopez and Caroline
Shaunessy both had one in the 7-2 loss.
LAST TIME AT MAINE
The last time Dartmouth traveled to
Orono was for two games on Nov. 28-29, 2016. After two weeks away from the ice, the Green returned in dramatic fashion by defeating the Black Bears by a score of 4-0. Christina
Rombaut led with two points, while six other players ended the night with one point apiece. The following night, Dartmouth suffered a 3-2 loss.
Eleni Tebano had her first multi-point performance of the year, while Kennedy
Ottenbreit and Emma
Korbs were credited with the Big Green's tallies.
TOP LINE
The combination of Bracken, Christina
Rombaut and
Jennifer Costa has been working very well. In just four games, the trio has combined for 10 points (5-5-10).
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Honor played all 185 minutes against Vermont and RIT last week, ending up with a total of 68 saves in all. In seven games and 428 minutes so far this season, she has made 192 saves for a .897 save percentage and 3.08 goals against average. Honor is currently sixth in the conference in saves. Kayla
Wormsbecher made her collegiate debut and started her first game against Cornell back in October, making 34 saves. Dartmouth's other goalie, Shannon
Ropp, has not yet seen playing time.
