Kittelberger, Roddy and Strauch receive the honor
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. — Three members of the Dartmouth women's golf team were named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars Team, as announced by the organization this week.
A total of 1,011 women's collegiate golfers from all three divisions were recognized with this prestigious honor. Among those names were senior Jessica Kittelberger, and junior Catharine Roddy and freshman Julianne Strauch. Kittelberger received the honor for the fourth-consecutive year, while Roddy was named to the team last year as well.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics with the minimum cumulative grade point average being 3.50 for inclusion.
Both Kittelberger and Roddy earned spots on the All-Ivy League Second Team this year by virtue of tying for 10th at the Ivy League Championship at the end of April. It marked the first time in 21 years the Big Green had two golfers earn all-conference honors in the same season.
Kittelberger finished up her Dartmouth career leading the squad with a 77.2 stroke average with four top-10 finishes throughout the season. Her best showing came at the rain-shortened Hartford Women's Invitational right before the Ivy League Championship, tying for fourth in the 62-player field with a two-over 74. Over her four years, Kittelberger played in 28 tournaments with a stroke average of 79.6.
Roddy, a first-team All-Ivy performer as a sophomore as well, was second to Kittelberger with her 78.5 stroke average while playing in six of the eight tournaments in 2017-18. She began the year tying for fifth out of 63 golfers at the Dartmouth Invitational, then came through with her other top-10 finish at the Ivy League Championship.
Strauch had a nice rookie season on the links with an 80.3 stroke average over nine rounds. Her best golf came in her collegiate debut on the home course in the Dartmouth Invitational, tying for 11th with a five-over 149.
Dartmouth finished fifth at the Ivy League Championship, 27 strokes off the pace, the Big Green's closest margin ever at the championship event.
