THIS WEEKEND
Dartmouth women's hockey will be on its first ECAC Hockey road trip of the season, heading out to face Quinnipiac and Princeton.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green had a 1-1 weekend at home, narrowly falling to Yale, 1-0, on Friday before defeating Brown, 3-2, in overtime.
- Hannah Humphreys had 28 saves against both the Bulldogs and the Bears, which is a season-high for the rookie netminder.
- Seven different players ended up on the scoresheet in the game versus Brown; Lotti Odnoga led the way with a pair of assists, while Bailee Brekke, Emily McLaughlin and Sara McClanahan were credited with the other helpers. CC Bowlby netted her second tally of her freshman year, and Givanna Foglia scored her first.
- Celine Pietraszek netted a goal 54 seconds into overtime to lift Dartmouth to victory over Brown. After Brown tied it up at 1:48 of the third, neither team could score another in a 21-shot period, so the game headed to overtime. Following a few wide shots by the Big Green, Pietraszek ended the game, scoring the first goal of her career. She was named the DartmouthSports.com Female Athlete of the Week and appeared in the Dartmouth Plays of the Week for that tally.
SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
Quinnipiac had a great start to its season, going 4-1-1 through the first month of the year. Since a 5-0 win over Sacred Heart on Oct. 26, the Bobcats have gone 0-3-0, falling to Princeton, Cornell and Colgate.
LAST TIME AGAINST QUINNIPIAC
The Big Green went 1-1 versus the Bobcats in 2018-19. On Nov. 3,
Jennifer Costa's first goal of her career scored with just over a minute to go in overtime lifted Dartmouth over Quinnipiac, 3-2, on the road. On Jan. 4,
Emily McLaughlin scored her second goal of the season in the 5-1 loss.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
The only blemish on Princeton's schedule is a 3-1 loss to Cornell last Saturday. Prior to that, the Tigers had two wins over Syracuse and conference victories over Quinnipiac and Colgate.
LAST TIME AGAINST PRINCETON
The Tigers were victorious at both meetings last season, winning 4-1 on Nov. 2 and 5-2 on Jan. 5.
In the latter, five players had a point;
Sydney Hill and
Katerina Dajia found the back of the net, while McClanahan,
Linda Essery and
Megan Cornell picked up assists.
Christine Honor's 51 stops was her second highest after her NCAA record breaking 61-save performance against Quinnipiac the year before.
CONFERENCE STANDINGS
ECAC Hockey has always been a very competitive league. Last season alone, three teams made it to the postseason (Cornell, Princeton, Clarkson), with the Golden Knights getting all the way to the semifinal before falling to eventual champion Wisconsin.
Even though it is still early days, a few teams are already pulling away from the group. A trio of squads are undefeated in conference play (Harvard, Clarkson, Cornell), while two still have perfect records overall (Harvard, Cornell).
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Humphreys has played every minute of Dartmouth's four games. She has made 104 saves while allowing 13 goals for an .889 save percentage and 3.26 goals against average.
The rookie won the first game of her career against Brown. She was a major storyline over the weekend with a season-high 28 saves in both games.
