THIS WEEKEND
Dartmouth women's hockey will be on the road for the second to last time this season, heading back to New York to take on Rensselaer and Union this weekend.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green had a 1-1 home weekend, defeating Brown on Friday before falling to Yale the following afternoon.
Brown
A pair of goals scored in each of the first two periods lifted Dartmouth a 5-2 victory over Brown.
Eight different players combined for 14 points, being led by
Christina Rombaut and
Lotti Odnoga with a trio of points each. This is the first time in either of their careers that they have had a three-point performance.
Christine Honor had a good game and ended up with 33 saves (.943 save percentage).
This was both Dartmouth's first five-goal game since a 5-0 victory over Brown on Feb. 6, 2016 and its first win of 2019.
Yale
Dartmouth had some good chances but could not get past Yale's goalie, ultimately falling to the Bulldogs by a score of 2-0.
The visitors opened scoring at 12:04 of the first and looked as if they had added another early in the second period, but the goal was waved off as it happened after the whistle. A few minutes later, Yale found the back of the net again, and this time it stuck, giving the visitors a 2-0 advantage to take into the third.
Tess Bracken had a good opportunity, but netminder Tara Hofmann made the save.
SCOUTING THE ENGINEERS
RPI has had quite a good year and enters the weekend with an overall record of 11-12-5 and an 8-7-1 mark in ECAC Hockey, which puts it sixth in the standings. The Engineers had a tough weekend against Colgate (1-4) and Cornell (0-5) but had been on a five-game unbeaten streak that had gone back to the beginning of January.
LAST TIME AGAINST RPI
Emily McLaughlin scored her first collegiate goal in the 2-1 loss to Rensselaer on Dec. 1.
McLaughlin had her second point of the weekend, after picking up an assist against Union the day before.
Gabby Billing and
Sara McClanahan also had a point apiece by assisting.
SCOUTING THE DUTCHWOMEN
Union has an overall record of 3-23-2 and is 1-14-1 in conference action after a 3-1 win over Brown at the end of January. This past weekend, they fell to both Cornell (0-7) and Colgate (2-5).
LAST TIME AGAINST UNION
Trailing by a goal less than a minute into the first period, Dartmouth turned things around to defeat Union by a score of 4-2 on Nov. 30.
The win was highlighted by a shorthanded goal by McClanahan, a first for the Big Green since Laura Stacey '16 netted one on Feb. 7, 2015.
Leading the way for Dartmouth were Billing – who had her first multi-point performance of her collegiate career with one goal and one assist – and
Sydney Hill with her career-high two helpers. McLaughlin had her first collegiate point by assisting on the first goal.
LEADING THE WAY
After the win against the Bears, there are now three players tied for team-lead in points: Bracken (5-6-11), McClanahan (5-6-11) and Odnoga (2-9-11). Rombaut is right behind (3-7-10).
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Honor played all 120 minutes against Brown and Yale. In 20 games, she has made 540 saves while allowing 59 goals (.902 save percentage).
Shannon Ropp and
Kayla Wormsbecher have both played three games.
