Dartmouth Men's Soccer making an impact in the USL
TAMPA, Fla. – Dartmouth men's soccer is making noise in the world of professional soccer. Lucky Mkosana '12, Stefan Cleveland '15 and Wyatt Omsberg '18 were all named to their respective United Soccer League (USL) Teams of the Week.
Mkosana, who plays for the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the USL's Championship League, had two goals in the opening four minutes, completed 10 of 12 passes and won three of four duels in the Rowdies 5-0 victroy over the Charleston Battery last Saturday. Mkosana is the all-time leading goal scorer at Dartmouth and is currently tied for second on Tampa Bay with seven goals this season. The Rowdies are in first place in the Championship League standings with 46 points and a 13-2-7 record.
Cleveland, who is on loan at Lansing Ignite FC from the MLS franchise Chicago Fire, was named the goalkeeper of the week for the USL's League One. Cleveland recorded five saves across two shutouts against Chattanooga and Orlando to help Lansing move into second place in the League One standings with 33 points and an 8-5-9 record. Cleveland is currently second in the league with 46 saves and is fourth with six shutouts this season.
Omsberg, who is also on loan at Forward Madison FC from the MLS franchise Minnesota United, was selected to the team of the week after making 13 recoveries, 11 clearances and completing 97 of 114 passes in a 2-0 week. Forward Madison is in fourth place in the League One standings with 28 points and an 8-7-4 record.
