Dartmouthsports.com will be recognizing the senior student-athletes who had their fall seasons postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Today's Senior … Patrick Murphy, forward on the men's soccer team.
DartmouthSports.com: What have your workouts been like so far?
Patrick Murphy: They've been going well given the current situation. I'm taking the fall off, so I've just been training/playing back home. I cannot wait until we are all together again, but the coaches have done a great job of organizing Zoom calls to keep us connected and working hard.
DS: What is your most memorable on-field team moment?
PM: Winning the Ivy League freshman year.
DS: And your most memorable on-field individual moment?
PM: Probably scoring my first career goal against Harvard off of a great ball from my teammate
Ohad Yahalom. I had made my collegiate debut a month prior against Vermont, but it hadn't fully dawned on me yet that I was back playing. Once I saw the ball hit the back of the net, I realized that all of the surgeries and time I spent getting healthy, two years to be exact, was worth it.
DS: What is the best thing about practice?
PM: Competing and getting to do what I love with my brothers.
DS: And the worst?
PM: Losing in small sided.
DS: Any hidden talents you can share?
PM: I'm decent at giving people nicknames. For instance, I can be credited for nicknaming
Christopher Palacios "Lace," and
Steven Hadley "Scads," amongst others.
DS: If you could swap places with one teammate, who would it be and why?
PM: Kennedy Davis. The man simply has all the tools.
DS: What are your plans after Dartmouth, as much as you can plan for anything during this pandemic?
PM: I want to play professionally after. If not, I want to pursue a career in either finance or sport management.
