March 27, 2016 — Women's Lacrosse upsets #16 Penn as Leto gets it done at both ends of the field
Jaclyn Leto was a force at both ends of the field in the shocking 10-9 home win against No. 16 Penn.
In a rare Sunday afternoon game, the Big Green bested the visiting Quakers by a single goal thanks to six from Leto at the offensive end of the field and a huge defensive stop at the other in the final seconds of the game. Down a goal and with the ball in the possession of its best player Nina Corcoran — who had a game-high seven points (3-4-7) at that juncture — Penn looked to pull even and force overtime.
That was not to be, however, as Leto jumped in the way of a centering feed, knocking down the pass and sending the ball to the end line as time expired to give the Big Green their first win against the Quakers since the 2012 Ivy League Tournament Championship Game and snap a four-game skid against the team from Philly.
"I honestly don't know why I was even there, I just knew I wanted that ball more than they did," Leto said after the game. "I guess I just moved down into position because that gave me the best opportunity to go get it."
In the game, Leto reached 130 career goals and 150 points with her impressive performance.
For her performance against the Quakers, Leto was tabbed as the Ivy League's Offensive and Co-Defensive Player of the Week, becoming the first player in conference history to win each award in the same week and the first player to win both in a single season since 2009. Leto was also announced as the Lacrosse Magazine National Women's Player of the Week as well as the IWLCA Division I Player of the Week.
