Dartmouth played a thriller against Harvard in the 2019-20 Ivy opener
HANOVER, N.H. — "Big Green Classic" — a series of Dartmouth events from the past two years that are being streamed once again on ESPN+ — returns following a holiday hiatus with the rebroadcast of the women's basketball Ivy League opener against Harvard nearly one year ago to the day. Fans can tune into the online service of the Worldwide Leader in Sports Friday evening at 7 p.m. (EST) to relive the heart-pounding game that took place in Dartmouth's Leede Arena.
The Big Green entered the game with a 6-7 overall record but was 4-1 at home, including its most recent victory by 19 points over in-state rival New Hampshire. The schedule was not going to get any easier with the start of conference play as the Ivy League finished the 2019-20 campaign ranked seventh in the RPI among the 32 leagues across the country. Harvard certainly helped that ranking, coming to town with a 9-4 mark with notable wins over California and Rhode Island.
Leading Dartmouth was senior point guard Annie McKenna, averaging 13.2 points and 4.2 assists per game with junior Anna Luce providing 9.8 points a night while shooting 47.1 percent from the floor, plus hauled in 5.0 rebounds. The team's top rebounder was senior Paula Lenart at 7.5 per game, and junior Ella Louie did a little bit of everything (5.5 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 3.3 apg). But the key Big Green player in this game was sophomore guard Katie Douglas, who entered the game with averages of 6.8 points and 2.5 rebounds.
