Preseason national poll sees Dartmouth earn spot in top-20.
HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth women's lacrosse team was ranked No. 16 in the nation by US Lacrosse Magazine in its 2021 Preseason National Poll.
The Nike/US Lacrosse Division I Top-20 was announced Wednesday and featured an early look into the 2021 season with the Big Green slotted 16th after finishing last season sixth in the final poll.
Dartmouth went 5-0 in the COVID-shortened 2020 season, including wins against No. 13 UMass and No. 5 Florida, in addition to dominating victories against Boston University and New Hampshire, as well as an overtime thriller against Brown in the only Ivy League game of the spring.
At the time of the halt, the Green were headed for a historic season on several fronts, but eventually had to settle for earning three top-10 rankings in the final national polls. In addition to the sixth-place spot in the US Lacrosse Magazine poll, Dartmouth was ranked ninth by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), its highest finish since the poll's inception more than a decade ago. Inside Lacrosse had the program seventh in the last release of the 2020 campaign.
