HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth women's rugby returned to the field after 22 long months in a big way, defeating LIU in the Sharks' first varsity match by a score of 92-5 at Brophy Field on Wednesday.

Ten different players had a hand in the 13 Big Green tries, with Emily Henrich, Lilly Durbin and Margot Généreux all scoring twice. Abbey Savin was key in her first collegiate game, going 11-for-12 on conversions and adding a penalty kick to end the game with a team-leading 25 points.

Halfway through the first half, Dartmouth already had a 33-0 advantage thanks to tries by Sophie Ragg, Henrich (2), Durbin and Sadie Schier. Savin also contributed four good kicks in that time.

The Green kept up the momentum for the remainder of the half and scores by Généreux, Lauren Ferridge and Durbin increased the home team's lead (54-0). LIU tried its luck in the final seconds and got mighty close, but not close enough.

Back for the second half, Dartmouth showed no signs of slowing down. Tries by Sophia Haley, Asialeata Meni and another by Généreux in the first 10 minutes made it a 75-0 game. After hitting all three of her conversions in the half, Savin also had a good penalty kick with 27:00 remaining on the clock (78-0).

At the 61-minute mark and with Dartmouth a man down because of a yellow card, LIU was able to break through and get on the board with its first and only try of the afternoon (78-5). The Big Green played out the remainder of the 10-minute penalty without any more damage done and even got close to another try once or twice.

Play was more or less even for the next 17 minutes with no change to the score. At 78:20, Yuri Oh snuck across the line, while Lily Waddell added one more at the 85-minute mark. With both kicks by Kristin Bitter hitting the mark, the game ended with a Big Green victory.

Dartmouth will be on the road for the next two weekends, starting with Quinnipiac on Saturday, Sept. 11.
