WEDNESDAY NIGHT HOOPS
Dartmouth hosts Merrimack in search of its first win of the 2022-23 season after letting one slip away against in-state rival New Hampshire at Leede Arena on Sunday afternoon.
LAST TIME OUT
Dartmouth led by as many as eight in the second half, and at one point held a five-point advantage in the fourth quarter following one of
Grace Niekelski's three 3-pointers, but were unable to hang on down the stretch in a 59-56 loss to in-state rival New Hampshire.
DOMINATING THE BOARDS
Dartmouth grabbed 22 offensive rebounds against New Hampshire, which marked the Big Green's highest total in that category since Jan. 3, 2013 when they racked up 25 against Holy Cross. In total, Dartmouth outrebounded New Hampshire 48-39 on Sunday. 48 total rebounds is the third-highest single-game total for any Ivy League team this season (Princeton's 51 vs. Temple and Columbia's 53 vs. Delaware).
LAWLOR'S STRONG START
Olivia Lawlor leads the Big Green with 9.3 points per game and ranks third in scoring among all Ivy League freshmen, and she's the only freshman in the Ancient Eight who has logged back-to-back double-digit scoring efforts. Lawlor did so in her first two collegiate games with consecutive 10-point outings against Bryant and Rhode Island.
NIEKELSKI LED THE WAY
Grace Niekelski had one of the best games of her career on Sunday, dropping a team-high 13 points, which was three shy of tying a career-high. She went 3-of-6 from downtown and was the Big Green's largest threat beyond the arc. Three triples were a career-high for Niekelski and it was the third time in her career that she's led the team in scoring.
LAST TIME VERSUS MERRIMACK
Dartmouth fell 73-65 to Merrimack on the road back in November of 2021. Katie Douglas led the Big Green with 16 points and was 4-of-6 from deep, while
Mekkena Boyd and
Carrington Washburn also scored in double figures. Dartmouth shot 40.0 percent from the field, which was their second-most efficient shooting performance of the season.
11-DAY HIATUS
Following Wednesday night's game, Dartmouth has an 11-day break. They return to the court for the third game of a four-game homestand Sunday, Nov. 17 to host Holy Cross.
