HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women's hockey team is set for a home-and-home non-conference series against the Saint Anselm Hawks this weekend. The Big Green first battle Saint Anselm on the road in Manchester, New Hampshire on Saturday at 4 p.m. before welcoming the Hawks to Thompson Arena on Sunday at 3 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green last took the ice on November 15 against the Post Eagles on the road. Dartmouth passed its first non-conference test of the 2022-23 season with flying colors with a 6-0 victory, fueled by goals from five different players.
Senior
CC Bowlby started the scoring barrage from the Big Green in the first period and tacked on her second in the second to secure her third multi-goal of her career.
Sophie Robinson and Vanessa Stamper both scored the first goals of their careers.
Laura Fuoco also found the back of the net, increasing her streak of games with a goal to three.
Georgia Kraus scored Dartmouth's final goal of the game with under four minutes left in the contest, while
Maggie Emerson registered her second shutout of the season.
FINDING THE BACK OF THE NET
After starting the season with just two goals in its first three games, Dartmouth's offense has seen growth over its last five contests. The Big Green have scored 19 goals over their last five games, an average of 3.8 goals per game.
Currie Putrah recorded two goals and an assist in Dartmouth's 6-5 loss to Cornell on Friday, November 11.
Celine Pietraszek also registered a multi-goal performance on November 5 in the Big Green's 2-0 win over RPI, while
CC Bowlby recorded a two-goal game against Post on November 15.
Laura Fuoco has found the back of the net in Dartmouth's last three contests against Cornell, Colgate and Post. She leads the Big Green with Bowlby who each have recorded three goals this season.
Dartmouth's six-goal performance against Post was its most impressive offensive output since December 10, 2021, which also came against the Eagles (8-1).
The Big Green have also outshot their opponents in five of their first eight games, including their wins over RPI and Post.
SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
Saint Anselm is set for this weekend's series with a 9-8-1 record, including a conference-leading 9-3-1 record in NEWHA competition. The Hawks hold a 3-5-0 record at home and a 6-3-1 mark on the road.
After opening the 2022-23 season with six straight losses, the Hawks have bounced back, winning nine of their last 12 games. All nine of Saint Anselm wins have come against NEWHA opponents as the Hawks have dropped non-conference games to Maine and Mercyhurst, as well as ECAC Hockey club, Quinnipiac.
The Hawks are led offensively by junior forward Natalie Tulchinsky, who leads her team in goals with 12 and points with 21 through 18 games. She has registered three two-goal performances against the likes of LIU, Sacred Heart and Franklin Pierce and has recorded multiple points in six contests.
Saint Anselm is home to the NEWHA's top three leading scorers. Tulchinsky leads the conference with 21 points, followed closely by teammates Tyra Turner and Kelly Golini, who have each registered 18 points.
Between the pipes, senior Allie Kelley has started 17 of 18 contests for the Hawks. She holds a goals against average of 3.19 and a save percentage of .908.
The Hawks swept its last weekend series, which took place on November 18-19 on the road against Saint Michael's. Saint Anselm took both contests by scores of 4-2.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE HAWKS
The all-time series between Dartmouth and Saint Anselm sits at 1-1-0.
The first two games between the programs took place last season. Dartmouth took the first game of a home-and-home weekend series by a score of 2-1 in Hanover on November 27. Saint Anselm responded with a 1-0 victory the following day at Sullivan Arena.
