HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women's hockey team outshot Saint Anselm 56-20 at home on Sunday afternoon but could not find the back of the net. The Big Green dropped the final game of a home-and-home series against the Hawks by a score of 2-0.
Freshman goalie Elle Sullivan made the first start of her collegiate career on Sunday and was impressive between the pipes. The Shrewsbury, Massachusetts native stopped 18 of 19 shots on goal she faced, including critical saves down the stretch to keep Dartmouth within striking distance.
The Big Green peppered Saint Anselm's goaltender, Allie Kelley, with an avalanche of shots, but could not find the back of the net. Senior forward
CC Bowlby led Dartmouth with nine shots on goal.
Dartmouth not only dominated in shots, but also in the faceoff circle. The Big Green won 58.7 percent of draws, led by freshman Vanessa Stamper, who won all six of her faceoffs. Bowlby was also impressive in the circle, winning 10 of 15 faceoffs.
The opening frame featured 26 shots from the Big Green, which were all turned aside. Sullivan faced seven shots and handled each well in a dominant period for Dartmouth.

The second concluded with Dartmouth trailing by one. The Big Green recorded 20 shots in the period while the Hawks only registered five.
Dartmouth and Saint Anselm played a more even third period, as the Big Green outshot their foe, 10-6. The Hawks sealed the game with 55 seconds remaining, as Natalie Tulchinsky scored an empty net goal to extend her team's lead.
The Big Green were unsuccessful on six powerplay opportunities through the course of the game. Dartmouth was strong on the penalty kill, handling three Saint Anselm power plays with ease, allowing just one shot.
Dartmouth fell to 3-7-0 and 2-1-0 in non-conference competition, while Saint Anselm improved to 10-9-1 on the year. The Big Green split a home-and-home with Saint Anselm for the second consecutive year and are tied with the Hawks in the all-time series, 2-2-0.
The Big Green look to bounce back on Tuesday in another non-conference tilt against Vermont. Dartmouth takes on the Catamounts on the road on November 29 at 7 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
