With a win at Harvard next Saturday, the Big Green would finish with their most Ivy League victories since 2018
HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men's soccer team scored a goal late in the first half then early in the second, and wouldn't look back, as the Big Green defeated visiting Brown, 3-0 on Saturday at Burnham Field. It was Senior Day as Dartmouth recognized its senior class prior to opening kickoff. Saturday's scoring began with freshman Sam Fenton netting his first-career goal, while senior Alex van Schalkwyk and sophomore Finn Callahan added insurance tallies.
With the win, the Big Green improve to 6-6-3, including 3-3-0 in the Ivy League. Brown falls to 8-5-3 and 0-3-3 in the league. Dartmouth also improves to 6-0-0 when scoring first this season.
"I think our guys just came out motivated," said head coach Bo Oshoniyi. "From the opening whistle, we wanted to make sure we imposed our will on the game and I thought the guys did a good job. Getting the goal early definitely helped, then the goal in the second half really put us in a good spot for the rest of the game."
Brown opened with the game's first two shots, but the Big Green responded with four in a row and six of the next seven. Included was a sequence of three shots, all in the game's eighth minute, two of which were saved by Bears' goalkeeper Henrik Weiper.
It took until the 43rd minute for either side to break through. Freshman Oskar Magnusson took the corner kick, which was headed by senior Eric Sachleben towards Fenton, who proceeded to finish a header of his own into the back of the net.
The Big Green will wrap up their season next Saturday when they travel to Harvard to face the Crimson. Opening kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
"This senior class has a special place in my heart," said Oshoniyi. "A lot of these kids, I recruited when I got here. To see them go through this maturation process, it's been special. I'm excited we were able to give them a great sendoff tonight and one more game at Harvard next weekend. Excited for that as well."

It didn't take long for Dartmouth to double its lead. Just over a minute into the second half, van Schwalkwyk redirected a free kick past Weiper to make it 2-0.Sam Fenton with the header to put the Big Green up 1-0 at the half over Brown!

From there, the Dartmouth defense stood tall in allowing just one shot on goal the rest of the way, while the Big Green added insurance. Sophomore Ben Jenkins' initial shot was saved, but Callahan buried the rebound for the 3-0 advantage at the 78:25 mark, which proved to be the final.Big Green add a second goal early in the second half to take a 2-0 lead!

Final shots were 17-10 in favor of Dartmouth while the Bears held a 5-4 edge in corner kicks. Sophomore Costi Christodoulou made three saves for his fifth shutout of the season. Brown's Weiper made nine stops.Finn Callahan buries the rebound to put the Big Green up, 3-0 late in this one!
