TUESDAY AFTERNOON HOOPS
Coming off a road win over Monmouth, the Big Green host Drexel for a Tuesday matinee. Dartmouth gives a warm welcome to more than 1,000 local elementary students from 16 different schools as the program hosts its annual Education Day.
LAST TIME OUT
Dartmouth upended Monmouth on the road, 71-56, Saturday afternoon for its second win of the season and first away from Leede Arena. The Big Green started fast with a 24-point first quarter and dominated the third, 19-6, to build a comfortable lead they would successfully hold. Dartmouth shot a season-high 47.6 percent from the field and held Monmouth to just 33.3 percent. The victory avenged last season's 55-37 home loss to the Hawks.
PAGE'S CAREER PERFORMANCE
Victoria Page led Dartmouth to Saturday's win with a career-high 25 points. The sophomore was 10-of-19 from the field, 3-of-6 from deep and a perfect 2-of-2 at the line. She is the first Dartmouth player to score 25 or more in a game since Jan. 26, 2019, when Cy Lippold went for 26 against Harvard. It was the second time this season Page has surpassed 20 points (23 against Vermont on Dec. 1).
ALL-TIME VERSUS DREXEL
Heading into just the fourth meeting of the two programs, Dartmouth is 1-2 all-time against Drexel. The teams met for the first time during the 1987-88 season with Dartmouth claiming a 55-44 victory. Drexel won the next meeting, which didn't occur until the 2015-16 season. The Big Green dropped a 67-44 decision to the Dragons last season in Philadelphia.
WELCOME BACK, COACH KOCLANES
Drexel assistant coach, Belle Koclanes, served as Dartmouth's head coach for eight years prior to her departure in February of 2021.
RECENT EDUCATION DAYS
Dartmouth has won its last three Education Day games. The most recent one was on Dec. 10, 2019, when Dartmouth earned a 57-41 victory over Maine behind Annie McKenna's 18 points. The Big Green comfortably defeated Boston University, 64-44, on Dec. 5, 2018 and downed New Hampshire, 57-49, exactly a year prior for 2017's Education Day.
SCOUTING DREXEL
The Dragons are 5-3 on the season, but are on a two-game skid with losses to Saint Joseph's and Yale. Prior to those stumbles, Drexel enjoyed a four-game win streak. Keishana Washington is the nation's fourth-leading scorer with 26.9 points per game and the Dragons take tremendous care of the basketball, ranking second in the country in assist/turnover ratio.
LOOKING AHEAD
Dartmouth travels to Long Beach, California to compete in the Beach Classic, which will pit the Big Green against Long Beach State on Friday, Dec. 16 and UC Irvine the following day. Dartmouth will then travel to Iowa to face the nationally ranked Hawkeyes on Wednesday, Dec. 21.
