HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth baseball head coach
Bob Whalen today revealed the 2023 Big Green spring schedule that features two trips to Florida, another trek to the USA Baseball Complex in Cary, North Carolina, along with the full 21-game Ivy League slate and opponents from the Northeast.
The season begins with a bang as Dartmouth opens the campaign with a three-game series at the University of Miami, beginning Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. The Big Green last visited Coral Gables in 2017 when they defeated the 17th-ranked Hurricanes twice in a three-game set.
The following weekend, Dartmouth will play four games at the USA Baseball Complex against Wagner (twice), Holy Cross and Penn State. After a break for winter exams, the team heads back to the Sunshine State for seven total games — two at South Florida, three at UCF and the final two at Jacksonville University.
Of the final 26 games, 21 will be against the Big Green's Ivy League brethren, starting with a three-game series at Princeton on March 25-26. The local fans will get their first opportunity to see Dartmouth play at Red Rolfe Field at Biondi Park as the calendar turns to April with the Quakers of Penn in town on April 1-2. That three-game series kicks off a 11-game homestand that includes Harvard and Yale as well as non-conference matchups with UMass Lowell and Boston College.
Dartmouth embarks on an eight-game road trip with stops at Columbia and Brown before concluding the regular season with four home games — one against Merrimack (May 2) and the other three versus Cornell (May 6-7).
The Ivy League has expanded its postseason from a best-of-three between the top two teams to a double-elimination format featuring the top four teams in the final standings. The top-seeded team will serve as the host for the Ivy League Tournament starting on May 19.
Dartmouth finished the 2022 season with a 24-19 overall record and 14-7 mark in conference play to finish third in the standings.
