THIS WEEKEND
Just three games remain on the 2022 schedule. On Saturday, April 16, Dartmouth will travel to New Jersey to face No. 3 Princeton at 3 p.m.
Â
LAST TIME OUT
The men's lacrosse team fell to fifth-ranked Yale, 23-6, in Ivy League play on Saturday at Scully-Fahey Field.
- Peter Lapina, Matt Paul and George Prince each scored twice for the Big Green, with Paul's first tally of the game being the team's first man-down goal since 2018.
- Paul added an assist, while Tommy Rogan had two.
- Daniel Hincks and Mason Morel combined for 11 saves in goal.
- A last-second tally by Lapina made it  2-2 heading to the second quarter. The Bulldogs pulled away at that point, scoring eight unanswered goals to take a 10-2 lead. Lapina scored his second of the game with a minute remaining in the half to end Dartmouth's scoring drought.
- The Big Green started the third quarter off on the right foot, scoring two of the first three goals. Another eight in a row from Yale gave the visitors a 19-5 lead heading into the fourth. Prince added his second tally of the day in the final quarter after receiving a pass from Ben DiGiovanni.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Princeton is first in the conference. As is Cornell. And Yale. And Harvard. More than half of the league has lost just one game to sit atop the standings. And none of them are playing each other this weekend, so that may just be how things stay as we head into the final two weekends of the season.
Â
The Tigers enter their penultimate home weekend on a three-game winning streak after taking down Brown (17-9), Marist (18-7) and No. 13 Boston University (12-7).
Â
Princeton is doing very well as a team in the Ivy League standings: first in goals/game, ground balls/game, points/game, caused turnovers/game, goals against average, save percentage and shots on goal/game.
Â
LAST TIME AGAINST PRINCETON
On April 13, 2019, George Christopher '20 had a career-high 18 saves in Dartmouth's 13-4 loss on a sunny Saturday afternoon.
Â
Prince and
Trevor Ballantyne '20 had two points apiece, while Ben Martin '20 had one. The score stayed even through the first 15 minutes, but the Tigers scored nine of the last 10 goals before the game was done.
Â
LEADING THE WAY
Much the same as the last few weeks now, Prince and Paul are tied for team-lead with 21 goals each. Prince remains first among the Big Green in assists (14) and points (35), the latter being a personal record. Paul currently sits with 79 points with three games remaining on the schedule.
Â
Mitchell Myers has grabbed 52 ground balls and is 113-211 (.536) in faceoffs.
Joe Azelby is first with 11 caused turnovers, though
Peter Rizzotti is closing in with 10. In net, Hincks leads the way for the goalies with 129 saves, a .535 save percentage and 11.84 goals against average.
