PROVIDENCE, R.I. – No. 5 heavyweight rowing swept all five races against No. 7 Brown to claim the Atalanta Cup for the first time since 2017.
The Big Green's 4V got things started on the right foot with a 6:09.3, beating the Bears by almost 10 full seconds. The 3V was closer, as Dartmouth finished with a time of 6:16.3 and Brown followed in 6:19.2.
The 2V was up next and the Green had another double-digit victory, crossing the line in 6:23.1 to the Bears' 6:35.6.
Dartmouth's 1V edged Brown by just over a second. Coxed by
Sammy Houdaigui and stroked by
William Bender, the boat completed the 2,000-meter course with a 6:23.2, coming in just ahead of Brown with its time of 6:24.8.
In the last race of the day, the Big Green's 5V had a 7:01.9, leaving plenty of time between it and the Bears (7:22.0).
Next weekend, Dartmouth will race against Syracuse and Boston University on Lake Morey in Vermont.
