HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men's lacrosse team fell to fifth-ranked Yale, 23-6, in Ivy League play on Saturday afternoon at Scully-Fahey Field.
Dartmouth moves to 4-6, 0-3 while Yale improves to 7-2, 3-1.
Peter Lapina,
Matt Paul, and
George Prince each scored twice for the Big Green. Paul added an assist while
Tommy Rogan had two.
Daniel Hincks and
Mason Morel combined for 11 saves in goal.
Matt Brandau led the way for the Bulldogs with three goals and three assists. Thomas Bragg scored three goals while Brian Tevlin, Brad Sharp, and Chris Lyons each had two. Jared Paquette and Jack Starr combined for 11 saves.
The Big Green got on the board midway through the opening period when
Matt Paul continued his streak of scoring in every game this season by firing one to the top right corner, netting the team's first man-down goal since 2018. The Bulldogs tied things up just 70 seconds later as Matt Brandau was able to get one past Hincks.
After Yale took a 2-1 lead, Dartmouth tied it back up just before time expired to end the first quarter. With three ticks left, Rogan made a great pass to Lapina, who found the back of the net to even the score heading to the second.
The Bulldogs had a strong second quarter as they scored eight unanswered goals to take a 10-2 lead. Lapina scored his second of the game with one minute remaining in the half to end the Dartmouth scoring draught.
Dartmouth started off on the right foot in the third quarter, scoring two of the first three goals, coming from Paul and Prince. Yale netted another eight unanswered goals to end the third quarter, taking a 19-5 lead into the fourth.
Prince added his second tally of the day in the fourth after receiving a pass out to the left side from
Ben DiGiovanni.
Dartmouth hits the road next weekend to take on fourth-ranked Princeton in Ivy League action. The game will be available to stream on ESPN+ and Stretch Internet.
