Hanover, N.H. – Five Dartmouth rowers have been selected to the U23 National Team to compete at the World Championship as announced by USRowing this week. Betsy and Mark Gates 1959 Head Coach of Men's Heavyweight Rowing
Wyatt Allen will be going along as the U23 National Team Director.
The regatta is the premier event for rowers under the age of 23 and offers a total of 22 events.
Six boats were selected from camps held earlier this month consisting of the men's quadruple sculls, women's quadruple sculls, men's four with coxswain, women's four with coxswain, men's eight and women's eight.
The men's sculling camp was held at the Conshohocken Rowing Center in Pennsylvania while the sweep camp was held at Harvard University.
Two of the Big Green five are repeat competitors.
Jacob Hudgins rowed in the silver-medal eight last year, while Cooper Tuckerman rowed in the lightweight quadruple sculls. The 2021 championships were held in Racice, Czech Republic.
New to the Championship is graduate
Isaac Spokes (Baltimore, Md.) who will join Tuckerman in the quadruple scull.
Miles Hudgins will join his brother Jacob in the eight boat.
Freshman
Julian Thomas has earned as spot on the sculling squad as a spare.
The 2022 World Rowing Under 23 Championships is set to take place July 25-30 in Varese, Italy.
