HANOVER, N.H. — Bobby Clark Head Coach of Men's Soccer
Bo Oshoniyi has announced the hiring of
Matty Evans as an assistant coach.
"I am very excited to have
Matty Evans join our Dartmouth men's soccer family," Oshoniyi said. "When going through the search, I wanted to find someone that would connect with our team and the Dartmouth community. Right away, I knew that Matty was the right fit for us here. He is an excellent communicator, recruiter and coach and I know that our student-athletes will enjoy having him onboard with us here at Dartmouth!"
Evans joins the Big Green following a tenure at Robert Morris as an associate head coach during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. During his time with the Colonials, Evans helped lead the program to back-to-back Horizon League Tournaments. Robert Morris had not earned a postseason appearance prior to Evans' arrival since 2017.
Prior to a one-season stint at Georgia Southern in 2020, Evans served as an assistant coach with the Appalachian State Mountaineers. Evans and the Mountaineer staff orchestrated the program's winningest season since 2002. ASU recorded eight shutouts, the most in program history, and finished third in the Sun Belt Conference regular season standings, its highest-ever finish.
"Firstly, I want to thank Coach Oshoniyi and the Athletic Department for the opportunity to be a part of Dartmouth College and this prestigious men's soccer program," Evans said. "It is an exciting time to be a part of Dartmouth Athletics and I look forward to helping guide our student-athletes to be successful on the field, in the classroom and within the community."
Evans spent the 2018 season at Lander University as an assistant coach. The Bearcats were ranked as high as No. 1 in the nation at the Division II level and finished the season with a stellar 16-2-3 (.833) record, including a 6-1 (.857) Peach Belt Conference record. Evans helped lead the program to an Elite 8 appearance, 16 shutouts, which included 942-straight minutes without a goal conceded, and a No. 5 end-of-season ranking.
In the fall of 2017, Evans served as an assistant coach at West Chester University. The Golden Rams finished the season with a 14-3-2 record and a perfect 11-0 record in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference contests enroute to a regular season championship. Evans helped lead the team to its first Sweet 16 appearance in over 50 years.
As an athlete, Evans played with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds U23 team and Luton Town F.C. He was a member of the Seton Hill University men's soccer team from 2014-16 and earned a bachelor's degree in Sport Management in May of 2017.
A native of Bedford, England, Evans resides in Hanover with his wife, Rachel.
