HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women's hockey team travels for a pair of ECAC Hockey matchups against Princeton and No. 4 Quinnipiac this weekend. The Big Green look to build off momentum gained in their last contest against Stonehill and translate that success as the conference portion of the season resumes.
Â
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green last took the ice on Friday, December 30 against the Stonehill Skyhawks. Dartmouth picked up a win in its last game of 2022 by a score of 3-2.
Â
Dartmouth was propelled to victory by a goal in the dying moments of regulation from senior captain
Currie Putrah. Her third goal of the season broke a 2-2 tie with just 1:37 remaining in the third period and secured the Big Green's fifth win of the year.
Â
CC Bowlby and
Cally Dixon also provided the Big Green with goals in Dartmouth's win, while sophomore goaltender
Maggie Emerson made 17 saves enroute to her fourth victory of the season.
Annie King,
Abby Grexton,
Sydney Herrington and
Vanessa Stamper each recorded an assist against Stonehill.
Â
For the first time this season, Dartmouth conceded both a power play and shorthanded goal. This did not deter the Big Green, who finish the non-conference portion of their season with a 4-3-0 record.
Â
KEYS TO VICTORY
The Big Green have been best when on the road this season, as they hold a 5-5-0 record away from Thompson Arena. Dartmouth looks to continue this success away from home this weekend against Princeton and Quinnipiac.
Â
Scoring first has been a focal point for the Big Green, as Dartmouth holds a 4-2-0 record when striking first. This includes Dartmouth's latest win over Stonehill, where
CC Bowlby scored the first goal of the contest on the power play.
Â
Dartmouth will look to limit shots from Princeton and Quinnipiac this weekend. The Big Green are undefeated this season when allowing 19 shots on goal or less. Conversely, Dartmouth has yet to secure a win when allowing 20 or more shots and have not won a game when its opponent records more shots on goal.
Â
Limiting power play chances will also be of importance this weekend. Dartmouth is just 1-6-0 when allowing a power play goal this season. Disciplined play will be a focus for the Big Green in a pair of crucial conference contests.
SCOUTING PRINCETON
Princeton enters Friday's matchup with the Big Green with a 7-6-1 record, including a 3-5-0 record in ECAC Hockey contests. The Tigers received votes in the latest USCHO poll.
Â
The Tigers last took the ice for a non-conference series on the road against Mercyhurst. Princeton swept the series by scores of 6-5 and 5-1 on December 9 and 10. Friday will mark Princeton's first game in almost a month.
Â
Junior forward Sarah Fillier leads Princeton offensively with 18 points in 14 games. Fillier leads the Tigers with nine goals and is tied for the team lead in assists with nine, alongside Issy Wunder.
Â
The goaltending tandem of Taylor Hyland and Jennifer Olnowich have recorded a combined save percentage of .909 through 14 games this season. Olnowich recorded back-to-back shutouts against Syracuse and St. Lawrence on November 12 and 18.
Â
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE TIGERS
Princeton holds a 52-32-7 advantage on Dartmouth in the all-time series, including a sweep of both contests last season.
Â
The Tigers defeated Dartmouth on back-to-back days last season in Hanover. Princeton outscored Dartmouth 8-1 over the course of two games enroute to two ECAC Hockey wins.
Â
Dartmouth's last win over Princeton came on November 12, 2016. The Big Green claimed a 3-2 overtime win over the Tigers at Thompson Arena.
Â
SCOUTING QUINNIPIAC
Quinnipiac takes on Dartmouth in its second game of the weekend. The No. 3 Bobcats will first battle Harvard this Friday at Fenway Park as part of the Frozen Fenway event.
Â
The Bobcats hold an impressive 18-3-0 record and an 8-1-0 mark in ECAC Hockey play. Quinnipiac's lone conference loss of the season came against Yale on November 4 in New Haven, Connecticut.
Â
Junior Olivia Mobley has been a premier distributor this season, as she has recorded 20 assists in 21 games to go along with eight goals. As of January 3, Mobley is ninth in the country in assists per game, with 0.95.
Â
Logan Angers and Catie Boudiette have been stellar between the pipes for the Bobcats this season. The duo has combined for a save percentage of .950 and allow just one goal per game.
Â
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE BOBCATS
Dartmouth looks for its first win over the Bobcats since the 2018-19 season this weekend, as Quinnipiac holds a 16-12-4 advantage in the all-times series dating back to 2005.
Â
Quinnipiac swept last season's series against the Big Green, including a 3-1 win at home on January 23, 2022. Dartmouth last knocked off the Bobcats on November 3, 2018 in Hamden, Connecticut by a score of 3-2 in overtime.
